The Pre-Raphaelite Woman
Welcome to The Pre-Raphaelite Woman

My goal for this site is two-fold: One goal is to offer advice and tips to the full figured woman on
creating her own costumes, and fantasy clothing, as well as some fashion shopping advice. And
another goal is to document the making of my own costumes, document my own costume studies, or
costumes I make for others so that you can learn from my mistakes, get some information about a
costume so you can make it for yourself, and to let other women like myself know, that size doesn't
matter, we are only limited by our imaginations.

About Me:

I am a women's petite size. Being 5 foot 2 inches tall and a women's size 16 through 18, (depending
on make and cut) means that finding a pair of jeans that fit properly also means wading in tons of
extra fabric on the legs. This is what started me on sewing. When I go out shopping, I hate it. I
wanted clothing that is stylish, flattering to my figure not hiding it. I had decided to begin making my
own garments, as well as trying to find some of the best retailers of plus size ready to wear clothing
out there.

I would like to share what I have learned with you. I am not an expert. I also enjoy theatrical or
fantasy clothing for Halloween or anytime..I always have. Mass production costume makers normally
do not produce anything (of very good quality) for someone over a size 12(US) in most cases, and
that cookie cutter size 12 may not even fit a perfect size 12! Most of the plus size ready made
costumes I have seen are really disappointing at best.
