| A commissioned piece from 2008. Client wanted a reproduction of the costume worn by Billie Burke as "Glinda the Good Witch" in the film The Wizard of Oz. My version was made for a 17" Sasha Doll. ~Creation Included Six Pieces~ Panties and stockings in a ballet pink knit Glass bead necklace with holographic silver butterfly A Chemise made of white cotton/linen eyelet A Hooped petticoat with extra hip pads A Gown of ballet pink silk taffeta, ballet pink silk organza. Hand beaded with glass beads, stars and star flakes. Hand painted glue and glitter star bursts. Rhinestones applied by hand one by one. Bodice lined with matching pink poly/cotton imperial batiste. Large hand painted glue and glitter wired organza butterfly with rhinestones. Bust appliqué is hand made of organza, glitter, beads and rhinestones. Embellished with silver lined glass beads along waist and pointed sleeves which close tightly with snaps. Silver holographic butterflies adorn both sleeve points and to the left of the waist. Neckline has silk organza collar. Large puffed outer sleeves have hand sewn silver stars. Bodice is made in three layers, a silk taffeta basis with overlay of hand beaded/painted organza and backed with lining. Bodice has princess seaming in front and curved back seams. Gown closes down the back with several hooks and eyes. Gown reaches the floor in the front and trails longer in the center back. Organza over skirts have French seams. Client supplied scepter, crown, and shoes for this creation. This creation will travel to the 26th Annual Sasha Festival, to be held in Omaha Nebraska. Client will enter the creation in the festival's costume contest as the 2008 festival theme is "The Wizard of Oz". |
